Happy May Day to you all. I remember dancing around the maypole in primary school and also the wonderful stories my Mom would tell us about when she was young and all the girls would be dressed in white and dance around the Maypole. What a wonderful custom and it's too bad that we don't practice and celebrate these rituals that denote the change in seasons. When we do, we are more connected to that which we are and the unity of all life.
I really enjoyed this video and didn't they do such a good job ... it's not easy to do.
I can just imagine my Mom in this picture. Oh what fun they must have had. So with that thought I do so wish for you all a fun-filled and joyous May Day !
The Song of Wandering Aengus
~~Willaim Butler Yeats
I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire aflame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And some one called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among the long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.

This morning I stumbled upon this fabulous affirmation and wanted to share.
I remember who I am - Pure LOVE - and I allow it to shine forth in all that I do.
Now, you may ask, why a cherry pie and rose picture ... because, for me, two people represent LOVE in my life, my beloved Mom and sweet daughter. My mom has passed on to paradise and my lovely daughter is here with me. What would I do without her ... the world seems so scarry to me right now. Anyway, my mom was a fabulous baker and she baked marvelous pies and when my daughter was little she would bake her cherry pie ... her favorite. So, cherry pie means "I LOVE YOU" to me and Rose represents their names.
Wishing You Your Own Version Of Cherry Pie and Roses to Brighten Your Life,
Love Always And Unconditional - You Are All Beautiful Spirits
Greetings to all who gather in peace and compassion. This is kinda a follow up to my smudging post from the other day.I think some of your already know, but I don’t believe in coincidences … I believe everything happens for a reason and that the Divine Spirit is so much greater and bigger and ever so much wonderful than we can even imagine, at least on this earthly plain. But, that’s my path and everyone is on their own unique path.Oh, here I go again getting off the point.Well, a few days after that post I stumbled upon an article about how plants feel and think. This is why smudging is so good and especially so if we remember to thank the essence of the plant for its energy and blessing.
The article reads, “Researchers have discovered an amazing world of communication.Plants can deliberately choose to “talk” with each other – within the same species, with different plant species, and even with animals and microorganism.Fungi, for example, can lie, cheat, retaliate, and withhold oxygen from a selfish mate. When a neighbor gets eaten by an herbivore, some plants, like the sagebrush, can defend themselves by “crying out for help” and attracting carnivorous enemies. They can forage for food, form personal relationships with microorganisms, and modify their behavior to assure greater survival in the environment.
They go on to write “plants can make “rational” decisions in response to threats in order to maximize seed production. They even exhibit the capacity for self-recognition by communicating through their roots with other species.According to growing consensus of biologists and biophysicists, plants use the same types of hormonal and chemical molecules and hormones used by animals and organism.Plants may actually exhibit a form of intelligence similar to animals.Although they don’t have a nervous system they do have signaling receptors and pathways. These documented behaviors and communication strategies are the same ones we use to identify parameters of human consciousness.
~Mark Waldman (Loyola Marymount University) and Andrew Newberg, MD (Jefferson University Hospital)
I found this completely fascinating and amazing.I do seem to remember watching a tv show actually showing and discussing some of this and even more.Oh, I wish my memory was better because it was such an interesting documentary.
To me this just demonstrates how we are all connected and we (meaning the human race) are so arrogant as to think we are the only beings that have intelligence and a spirit …. At least some of us do think and feel differently.Having reverence for all life is what I strive for and try to be aware of my thinking and feelings in this area. This makes saying grace, or another way to put it is thanking the food for providing nourishment, before meals in the way that speaks to you more meaningful don’t you think?
May Your Day Be Filled With Sunshine And Happiness !
I have acquired a variety of smudge bundles to smudge those nasty energies away. These are from a Native American source and they are big into smudging. I love their way of looking at the earth as our Mother and that we are all part of the whole and it's important to keep nature in balance. Anyway I'll be smudging myself and the rest of our little family as well as our abode every day for a while. I feel something is amiss and although I ask Michael the Archangel and my Guardian Angels to protect and guide us, I feel that smudging will give us that extra oomph. I always ask that the negative energies go back to the originators and change the energy from negative to positive, namely LOVE. Hoping that this will transform the originators and help them remember who they really are.
Smudging is the process of burning the herbal gifts from Mother Earth and fanning the smoke over your body with sacred intention. Indeed, acknowledging these gifts brings honour to the ritual. Smudging is a ritual that should be done with care. We are entering a relationship with the plants and with the spirits of the ceremony and/or ritual and, as with all relationships, there should be respect and honour if the relationship is to work. You should also smudge the area in and around where you intend to do your sacred work. It is also a good thing to do on a regular basis for both oneself and one's living space, to maintain individual and domestic harmony.
The following is from the place where I just bought these bundles.
Cedaris the medicine for protection. Cedar trees are very old, wise and powerful spirits. Cedar is often used to cleanse a home or apartment when first moving in, inviting unwanted spirits to leave and protecting a person, place or object from unwanted influences.
California White sage is from the coastal mountains of California. This is a large leaf sage which is prized for its rich aromatic properties. This sage has the one of the strongest scents and burns with a rich smoke. The use of sage is for healing. The smoke is used to bless, cleanse and heal the person or object being "smudged". Sage is used to "wash off" the outside world when one enters ceremony or other sacred space. Objects are likewise washed off with sage medicine smoke to rid them of unwanted influences.
Blue sage is also called Grey sage or Rocky Mountain sage but the color is a light grey blue and the aroma is of sweet mountain air or a light fresh fragrance. You will find Blue sage throughout Colorado and other mountain areas. The Native Americans have used Blue sage in their rituals to cleanse negativity and hate which then opens up the path for spiritual wealth and abundance, healing, calmness and a path towards prosperous health. Aromatherapy of sage has proven to calm ones mind and emotions and to bring one in to balance with their own wholeness.
Since the dawn of times plants have been our sacred connection to our mother earth. Plants feed, cure, and shelter us; and legends abound of the power of chosen plants to heal and protect the wise. Native traditions relate that wherever sage and cedar are used, no evil influences may enter.
To “smudge” is to purify with smoke from certain sacred herbs. The sacred ritual of purifying with smoke comes from native peoples in both North and South America. In North America the smoke is created by burning sacred herbs such as sage, cedar, sweet grass and juniper. Smoke may be used to purify the body, spirit, pet, home, office and healing rooms, any space or item in your world.
As you can see for the following pictures, smudge feather fans come in all shapes and designs. Some are very elaborate and others plain. You can be the judge which works for you ... let your heart decide.
I plan to use a metal vessel to hold the smudge stick. I would like to purchase a small clay or stone bowl in the future when I am able to do that. Also, I have been fortunate enough to have acquired a beautiful feather with beads that was seeped in a magical smoke mixture and cleansed for days in this smoke. I truly feel so blessed to have found this particular item and am happy to finally be using this in the way for which it was created.
This will also be a great way to make our home smell fantastic ... the aroma is wonderful just through the bag that it's in.
Happiness, Compassion, LOVE, Positive Thoughts and Energies to ALL !
