COMPASSION - I strive to have a compassionate heart

Recently I ran across a elderly lady who lacked compassion, which I always find surprising, but especially when I find this in the elderly.  Seems to me we can hope to grow with compassion and wisdom when we age but I’m learning that’s just not the case.  So, surrendering to not judge her, I’ve been looking at my compassion quotes and affirmations to help me become more compassionate towards her and other who are not in touch with their compassion, love, and spirit.  They all go hand in hand, don’t you think?  Below is one of my favorite quotes.  I’ve read that Einstein went back and forth on whether there is a Divine Source … and that makes him so much more human.  Faith is a gift … and it doesn’t make one better than someone else … just more fortunate.

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of COMPASSION to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”  ~Albert Einstein

The more we have the less we own.  ~Meister Eckhart
May your heart always be a COMPASSIONATE heart !

It happens sometimes that one learns to screen him/herself so well that eventually become insensitive. Anyway, old people can be very tough :D

Great quotes, I especially love the last sentence by Master Eckhart :D

Well said, Elettrarossa, and something to ponder on. I have to say my beloved mom always stayed compassionate and loving ... I was so lucky to have her as a mom and I know she is still with me now in spirit ... I can feel her sometimes and I've had a medium tell me she she's at my right side poking me to let me know she's there.

Love to you dear friend, always !

Compassion what a wonderful gift to have. In my older age my compassion knows no bounds and that is why to me it is hard to understand an elderly person with none. But she may have had a hard life we just don't know. I am not elderly but at 54 I feel everything so much more.....I have compassion for that woman who has none.

Donna, I know what you mean as I am no spring chicken myself and thus was so taken aback with her attitude, towards the plight of poor folks ... and I would have to say she's in her 80's. But, my daughter is such a good and kind soul, she said that she is holding onto some bad stuff ... although she has a comfortable life she's in her own prison of negativity. Being the co-dependent I am, I wished I could help her, but alas that's not to be. So, for me it's a lesson of letting go with compassion and love and trusting the Divine Holy Mother to take care of things.

So glad to have connected with you sweet Donna.

Love and Light, Always
